This Work Sample is called a Trip to Costa Rica. As you may be able to tell, we were assigned this in Spanish class. We were assigned to choose any Spanish speaking country, and pay it a visit. The only catch being we only have 10,000$ to spend and once we get to the country of our choice, we must convert whatever money we have into that country's currency. And with that money we must be able to maintain our well being, so buying food, traveling, etc. While we’re there we must also visit 3 cultural sites as well as try cultural dishes and explore the cultural music range
Why did you choose to show this work sample on your Portfolio?
The reason I chose this work sample was because I found it simple yet enjoyable to present. I'm proud of this project so I wanted to show it
How does this work sample represent a 21st Century Skill?
This project definitely used my information and communication skills. I’d like to think that I helped someone learn something new with my project, but I can’t tell you that for sure. I had a number of things on that project that I, previously, didn’t know and it helped me learn a lot more, so my goal was to inform others as well. Now my communication skills are very far from perfect. I had a lot of information to present and in my brain I knew what I had to say but my mouth was not following
How does this work sample demonstrate your growth? Is there something you could've improved on?
I feel I’ve definitely improved at presenting the information I know physically (NOT VERBALLY), so whether it's by poster or, in this case, slide show, I can tell I’ve made improvements. The content is, not only appealing, but easier to understand and comprehend. However, I definitely need to work on my communication skills. I’m not sure why, but I can’t present to save my life. I stutter, freak out, and just hate it. I’m really hoping to become a better speaker by the time I graduate.
