This was our mixtape project from Humanities class. In English, we're reading a book called "Perks of Being a Wallflower" and in it, was mentioned mixtapes. To really immerse ourselves in the book, we were tasked to create a mixtape of our own where we would, in a group of 3, choose a theme, split that theme into 2 sides, and have a total of 10 songs representing the theme and it sides. My group chose to do a island-esque theme where we would split the sides into Mauka and Makai (songs that reminded us of going to the beach and songs that reminded us of what it's like to be in the backside of the island).
Why did you choose to show this work sample on your Portfolio?
I liked how open-ended and how much choice we had over what we wanted to do in this project. I was also proud on the outcome and felt like putting it in here.
How does this work sample represent a 21st Century SKill?
The one 21st Century Skill I used the most was communication. Lots of communication was needed for this project as this was mostly done at home since we didn't really have class time to do it. We also communicated when we were assigning roles and who was doing what.
How does this work sample demonstrate your growth? Is there something you could've improved on?
I feel like I really improved upon my self-directional ability. Since majority of this was done at home, I had to keep myself at a reasonable pace while I worked. And I feel like there was little room for improvement. This was a fairly straight-forward and simple project so there wasn't much room for error. However, I know that as a group, we could've divided the work more evenly. Though we all did put in effort, I found that I had a bit more work on my shoulders than my group mates.
