This is the Atomic Model project from Chemistry class. This project is exactly what it sounds like. So it should be a straight forward project right? Wrong. Maybe it was because of my own doing, but everything about this project (for me) was horrible. Materials was a pain to get, and the assembly was even worse. I made my model the first time, I already knew it was gonna fall apart, but I took it to school anyway. And who would've guessed it, it fell apart. So I brought it home, remade it, and brought it back the next day SEVERAL times better than it was the previous day . Overall, a great project idea, just a horrible execution on my part.
Why did you choose to show this work sample on your Portfolio?
I put my blood, sweat, and tears into this project. It's going in here regardless.
How does this work sample represent a 21st Century Skill?
This project was a great example of my thinking and problem solving skills. With the amount of problems this project gave me, I really had to show it off. Obviously, I overcame these problems thanks to my skills and this project, in general, really helped me hone into that specific skill adn made me put a lot of work in.
How does this work sample demonstrate your growth? Is there something you could've improved on?
Oh boy. When it comes to growth, the only thing that comes to mind is perseverance. Like there were so much times during the assembly of my model where I felt like just stopping, and giving up. But I didn't. As bad as it was, I didn't give up and that is what I'm most proud of. But then when it comes to what I could've improved on, the main thing is time management. It's no secret, I procrastinate so much and it is so detrimental to all my projects but this project specifically really helped me notice that.
