This is our Decade Project from Humanities. Easily, one of the biggest projects I've done, virtually. This project actually took the entirety of the 2nd quarter to complete. The initial instructions were simple. Choose any recorded 10 year period in all of U.S history, and create a slide presentation with some requirements. The slides we made were fairly simple and not to complicated as they were following easy guidlines. But it was the fact that we had to make so many slides that prolonged the project even more. I chose to do the 1860's decade as it seemed interesting and full of information so it would be easier to complete the project.
Why did you choose to show this work sample on your Portfolio?
I think this is the biggest project i've done, and will do, this entire year. A Lot of work went into this one and I'm glad on how it came out.
How does this work sample represent a 21st Century Skill?
If this work sample projected any of the 8 21st Century Skills the most, it'd definitely be Self -Directional. In fact, I think this project quite literally embodied what it meant to be "self-directional. The whole purpose for this project, said by Mr. Gorring, was to teach ourselves about an entire decade of U.S history. And that's not even the end of it either. We had to own that information as we ALSO had to present our entire slide to the class in the hopes of teaching someone else about your decade.
How does this work sample demonstrate your growth? Is there something you could've improved on?
Another one of the requirements for this project, was that we had to present it... WITHOUT looking at the slides. Like we really had to own this information. And it makes sense considering just how much time this project took. So I'd say this project helped hone in on my presenting skills. As far as improvements go, I don't actually think there's much more I could've done. I'm really proud of this project
