In Agriculture, we are tasked to do a current event every week. And at the end of the quarter, we had to choose one of the 4 current events we made, and turn it into a full fledged presentation. Whether it was a Slides presentation, or poster, as long as it represented our information, it was good. I chose to use the current topic we were reviewing in Agriculture, which was photosynthesis, and did some research to find out something known as Artificial Photosynthesis which basically uses carbon dioxide as fuel. Cool right.
Why did you choose to show this work sample on your Portfolio?
I just found it genuinely interesting as well as informational. If you’re also interested in ways we could possibly help the Earth, this might peak your interests as well.
How does this work sample represent a 21st Century Skill?
This project was a reflection on my Information skills. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but because my project was basically explaining how we could make use of the current CO2 emissions, it's no surprise that it would mean wonders for the world. I also ran into lots of problems as I was afraid the information would be incomprehensible or difficult to understand. But eventually I was able to simplify it making it easier for the audience to understand. That represents the Thinking and Problem Solving skills,.
How does this work sample demonstrate your growth? Is there something you could've improved on?
This project also was a reflection on my ability to make my work comprehensible. Artificial Photosynthesis is way more complicated than how I made it seem, however I simplified it without leaving any important details out. My presentation and time management skills could definitely use work. I wasn’t only stuttering but the way I managed my time for this project was bad. For majority of the projects that I have to present verbally, you'll see that I will almost always struggle with my ability to speak
